Personal Statement
Tanzania, a partly free country in Sub-Saharan Africa, seems like most of its issues lie among the government's part. The government is not taking care of the majority of the population that reside in the rural areas so those areas are being neglected. The resources in the rural areas compared to the urban areas, like Zanzibar, are better off with achieving the Millennium Development Goals than the rest of the country.
The biggest issues in Tanzania are due to the people's isolation from the government. The government controls all of their actions, but the people are left in the dark about the process of how they are being assisted. The government's ignorance to the health care in the rural areas is not helping the maternal and the child mortality rates. Better education and healthcare could help the people in this country better their own lives. The lives that are lost in the country are because of the unavailability to hospitals. Hospitals and proper health care are not attainable to a majority of the country.
The positive attributes to the nation are their education system and their promotion of gender equality. Tanzania has improved its educational system by building more schools in the rural areas so that the children would not have to travel as far and could still tend to their duties at home. However most people realize their education will not help them in the long run since college is still too expensive for them and they are living where all they have is house work and agriculture. Their promotion of gender equality has been improving since they are allowing more women to be part of Parliament. Currently only 30% of Parliament consists of women, but they are close to their goal of 50%.
